Creative Brief

Concept

Midnight is when everything is still enough to hear the noise and the silence all at once. The day resets, but nothing resolves. Ideas creep in, doubts get louder, anxiety vibrates and the unknown shifts shapes. It sits on our chests mocking our decisions, our actions, and our thoughts. We wait for it to pass, or we welcome the horror and let the darkness set in.

You are one of 12 designers all working from this exact same brief. Each of you will take it somewhere different, shaped by your own perspective, experience, and way of seeing the world.

The Assignment

Create a poster that lives in that space as you know it. It should contextually lean dark, eerie, unsettling, or tense, but the execution should be true to you. Say something. About you, about us, about the world around you. Personal, social, uncomfortable, quiet, whatever it is, use your voice.

Content Considerations

This work will be displayed in an active place of business. We encourage honesty and personal perspective, but ask that you be mindful of how your work exists in a public-facing space. Work that is excessively explicit, inflammatory, or disruptive to the space may not be displayed.

If you have questions, ask. We are happy to push things right to the edge.

Exhibition Details

This show will be on display at Coopersville Brewing Company for three weeks beginning with an opening party on Saturday, October 17, 2026 from 4:00 to 10:00pm with the designers in attendance throughout the evening. The event will feature a new beer brewed for the occasion by head brewer, Ryan Wasson, and a signature dish prepared by Chef Kyle Murray. The exhibition will conclude on Sunday, November 8, 2026.

This is a public, in-person event built around the work, the artists, and the conversations that come out of both. Come ready to engage and share your perspective

Artist Responsibilities

Artists are responsible for printing and preparing their final poster for display. Posters must be framed with no additional matte. The style of frame is solely up to the artist.

All participating artists should be at the event at least between 5:00 and 8:00pm but are encouraged to be there for the entire opening event.

Artists are welcome and encouraged to sell prints of their poster created for this show, however no additional works, displays, setups, or installations will be accommodated. Please come prepared with your own system for handling transactions.

All participating artists are expected to promote the event across their social channels leading up to the opening. We will provide assets, but your participation in spreading the word is key to the success of the show. Artists should refrain from spoiling their poster design before the opening.

Deadline

Please have framed, display-ready posters to Aaron McCall by Friday, October 2, 2026. Contact Aaron at either hi@badideasocialclub.com, or call/text him at (248) 895-5052 to work out the hand-off details. Aaron McCall will handle the installation of all posters.
